TOPKAPI PALACE

Topkapi Palace (Topkapi Sarayi)

The Topkapi Palace is a palace in Istanbul famous for being the official and primary residence of the Ottomans for more than 400 years. In the past the Topkapi Palace housed either state occasions or royal entertainments as nowadays it is one of the most preferred places of interest in the area because of its rich historical development.

The Topkapi Palace was built in the middle of the 15th century as it comprised 4 main courtyards and many smaller buildings. Over the years it has experienced its rises and falls but today it still remains visitors speechless with its design.

In the beginning of the 20th century the palace was officially converted into a museum of the imperial era. It is now one of the best examples of the Ottoman achievements and being there tourists will enjoy a unique complex of hundreds of rooms and chambers. As the palace is among the inevitable historical and cultural buildings in Istanbul, only the most important rooms are for public visits.

Topkapi Palace Museum is open to visit between 09:00 AM - 05:00 PM every day except Tuesdays. Ticket sale for the museum ends at 04:00 PM

The entrance fee is 20 TL for either foreigners or domestic travelers.
