Chora Church (Kariye Muzesi)

The Chora Church is a popular religious building in Istanbul. Originally built as a church, now the Chora Church is used as a secularized museum.

The Chora Church was constructed during the Byzantine reign and is considered to be one of the finest architectural examples of the period. During the 16th century it was converted into a mosque by the Ottoman rulers. Today it houses a museum but it still keeps the most notable fragments from its original outlook.

The Chora Church will definitely impress you with its architectural design influenced by different historical periods and its interior covered with fine mosaics and frescoes.

The Chora Church is opened daily from 09:00 - 16:30 except on Wednesdays

The entrance fee is 15 TL (Around 6 Euro)
